Fingerprints: The Marks We Make
Works made with the members of the YES – Peterborough’s Youth Emergency Shelter
Over the last year, we’ve been making art together. Please join us for our first showing, make art with our facilitators and experience how the process of creating can close the distance between us.
Once each month for the last year, YES has been hosting an art drop-in to offer youth an opportunity to connect with each other, YES staff, and local artists. Everyone involved has had a growing sense of community and as a result we’re becoming more and more comfortable with creating together and showing vulnerability through those creations.
The outcome has been more than the art. We are expressing, we are bonding and we are learning. This project has shown us how opportunities to be creative in groups can equalize participants while encouraging us to cherish that which makes us unique.
