My background is in textiles, theatre and art education. I still consider myself a weaver, though now I’ve expanded to investigations of all things hand made with thread. These pieces are based on the small purses carried by Ladies of the Victorian era, called Reticules. They were small flat, hand-held bags to carry a few mementos or keepsakes.

This mini-series explores the geometric structure of Islamic star patterns. Among the most direct manifestations of decorative mathematics, star patterns give us a clear window onto the impact of number on symmetrical form. Constructed using the traditional tools of ruler and compass, and rendered in a symbolically traditional indigo, gold palette.
Dimensions (of indigo paper): 6″ x 6″
Media: Pencil, ink, and handmade paints on handmade Indian hemp paper, vat dyed with natural indigo.
Price: $200 each

These sculptures explore the interaction between blown glass and copper. Each piece is blown into a prepared copper cage and then coated in molten glass before being blown into its final dimensions. This process leads to unique and organic forms that capture the imagination, especially when lit from within.

The Caloritypes are both works that explores the transformative nature of the creative process and the materiality of analog photography. Each piece is created in a darkroom using silver gelatine paper without the use of a camera. The process of creating the prints highlights the materiality of the medium, and the gem-like quality of each print is only revealed after it has undergone great transformations.

The oil painting is 6″ by 6 *,painted in 2014. It was exhibited that year at Loop Gallery in Toronto for a show entitled Walking. At the time I had recently moved to the country and painting a figure walking in the landscape was my way of looking and sharing the land I had moved into.
